This subject has come up a lot around here lately as we have the son in a family of friends being baptized lately, as well as with my husband as he's recently come to believe in Yeshua. :) I'm studying scripture, and I'm just wondering what the Hebraic/Messianic belief surrounding baptism is, if anyone knows. I'm learning that some things that I believed to be clear interpretation weren't once you unify both the first and second covenants rather than separate them out as I was accustomed to when growing up. So, I'm wondering if this is any different? I'm hoping to have time to really isolate myself and dig into scripture before we talk with the congregational leader on Saturday after Shabbat service. Any insights or verses that anyone would like to toss out?
I am so excited that after years of study my husband is a believer in Yeshua. We are just so happy, and more importantly he is praising Yeshua continually! :) There has been such a change in the air of my household that I'm having a hard time not shouting praise all the time. Oh who am I kidding... it's pretty constant. lol
Baptised into what? Or why? I believe that is the question. Scripture gives many examples in the Torah as to when, who and why ones "mikvah"s. Also we are given the example of Yochanon the immerser. Do the study together, your dh, son, and yourself. I am excited for you. Whenever you have a challenge like this it is so exciting to dig into the Word together, and discuss.
