Thank you for this, Robin. It really helped narrow down what the true reason for the conflict is. Very moving and enlightening.

About Me:
I've always found it difficult to sum up 42 years of life in a few paragraphs, but here goes.

We've been homeschooling for 5 years and have run the gamut from school-at-home to unschooling and the Lord has led us to the happy medium that is Heart of Wisdom. We began homeschooling when my parents, both public school teachers, threatened to take my children away if we did NOT homeschool! Now there's an endorsement!

I'm married to an amazing mechanical engineer/U.S. Navy officer, who never ceases to make me laugh. I married him because he was the first grown-up I dated and he was the only guy I didn't get bored with after a week! He continues to surprise me after 17 years.

I'm a second generation Colorado native (third generation if you count my grandparents who came here from Russia when they were 2). I'm an all-or-nothing perfectionist who is passionate about the printed word, scrapbooking, organizing, Star Trek, and the Navy. I have a screen addiction that I battle daily! I'm a learning junkie, having attended 5 colleges/universities with 11 majors (yes, I did eventually graduate with a B.A. in Communication). And homeschooling has provided an avenue for me to continue learning without tuition charges! What a revelation!

I've loved learning about the Hebrew people all my life but hadn't made the connection between their religion and mine until the past year. My faith has acquired so much meaning now! What joy! I'm humbled by God's leading me to all of this.

Discombobulated Thinking

There are two issues to this blog post.

The first one was brought up by my husband:

"If this is the way our family is supposed to go, why hasn't God told me about it? That makes it suspect to me, that God would want our family to move down a certain path, but wouldn't tell me, the leader of this family, about it."

He observes my kids talking about how the Lord's Day is actually Saturday and they don't want to schedule things on that day that would interrupt that. I do not remember tell… Continue

Will the Confusion Ever Stop?

My husband and I have been having an ongoing discussion the past few evenings about various aspects of Hebrew roots. It came to a head last night.

He claims I am reading too much of men and not enough of the Bible, and perhaps that is true. (But ya gotta admit, John Garr, Marvin Wilson, and David Stern make for some irresistible reading!) My husband does not read anything having to do with spiritual/religious matters.

He does not want to do Sabbaths on Saturdays because he believes it does not… Continue

What If It's All Wrong?

I was reading on one of the several blogs I visit every morning and came off completely . . . tired. I'm so tired of trying to be a Berean even though I have no idea what I'm doing. I have no degrees in Hebrew, Greek, or divinity studies. I'm just a homemaker who's trying to find the Truth.

Did all those Christians down through the ages die believing the wrong thing? What if THIS is the wrong thing?

I've been a Christian my whole life. I didn't grown up in one particular church. My mom was rai… Continue

Hi I notice your online and I wanted to stop by and say hi.
I know its hard to find like minded people to fellowship with. If you end up being the only one online here and you want to chat or visit me you can find me on our ministries website. My husband is a Rabbi and the website is an awesome place to learn deep teachings in who you are, how to make oil and keep your menorah lit, and prepare yourself as the bride-A Kingdom of Priests.. We teach the Greater Torah by the Spirit. We teach how Yeshua taught and lived...he taught the Kingdom of Elohim!! Id love to see you there. Shosh

My Christmas was a little better than that. We did some nice family reading together during Advent - that is the girls and I did. Tim doesn't seem to want to join us for evening reading anymore, but I don't know why. He listened with us the first night, then promptly picked up the book and finished it that night and never joined us again. We bought the kids each one gift (approx. $20 or less) and a bag of ghiardelli chocolates for everyone. We opted not to travel this year or to get in on any family exchanges (although several families sent us small gifts anyway...even though I told them if they did we would not be able to reciprocate...). I put up the tree and took it down by myself. I am quite sure though, with the negative reactions I get regarding keeping the Sabbath, that if I cut out Christmas altogether, it would have been a very ugly confrontation. My dh chewed me out for not making his birthday special enough on Dec. 13... Anyway, Christmas is over, it was small, it went fine, we grew in our walk with Jesus, I think...

Happy Belated Humbug Birthday!

I hope you had a nice Christmas and/or Hanukkah. How are you? Are you keeping busy shoveling out the snow like we are?

You asked about Christmas...well, we are poor as dirt right now and are barely able to live from paycheck to paycheck. I guess it is a blessing in disguise...Christmas will be at home and very simple. No Santa Claus or all out materialism. I've opted out of the family drawings too, but the kids may make some simple homemade gift to send to their cousins...if we can afford to send them. We've been reading about Hanukkah together, but I don't see it happening as a holiday yet this year... If I had a menorrah perhaps, but I feel so alone in trying to get any of the biblical holidays in motion here. Anyway, that is my rambling answer! Thanks for the update. I've been wondering what happened to you lately and I've been praying for you.

Hi Jerzy! How are you doing? What is up with you these days? Did you get to observe any of the fall holidays? I didn't but I sure hope to do it next year! I'll have to pray bunches that my husband will be open too.

Wow, This is the first I have seen these comments on "my" page. HUH! I am so computer illiterate. I checked my little envelope that says messages, and never saw one. So I only just came across your comment. We lived in the St Vrain canyon when we first moved to Colorado. We lived in a 1956 Dodge powerwagon 4x4 panel truck for 6 wks with our boys and our k-9's. Then we landed in Nederland. I am sure it has changed a great deal! That was only one of the reasons we left. Getting too populated. Anyway, I am glad you responded, and now I know where you are. Shalom

I don't officially end the Shabbat either. I also, at this point, am not extremely strict about the starting time. Usually we end up beginning early as we get our nice dinner ready and then we eat and start then. Just a quick clean up after dinner and the rest of the evening is reserved for Shabbat. In the summertime, the sun doesn't go down until quite a while after bedtime, so obviously we're not doing anything special at that moment. In the other seasons, we just take notice and sometimes say a special prayer when the sun is about to go down. Then we pretty much keep Shabbat going until after dinnertime Saturday evening and that sort-of unofficially ends it. Oftentimes though we just extend it until bedtime that night because we're so involved in enjoying the time together :-D Hehe! We really keep very few traditions...one of them is having candles burning during our dinner as it makes it more "special." I also bless the children at some point during the evening (that is our favorite one I think!) and they bless me in turn, which I love! I really have a relaxed approach to the whole thing as I'm not big on implementing so many "traditions" that it makes it a burden.

Jerzy, I'm glad that this was a blessing to you as much as it was to me. I didn't see you waving last night since it was so dark and I was already in bed!

Hi Jerzy. I just got back from a teaching by one of our YWAM discipleship training school teachers, and the Lord really came down in a neat way. The thing that caught my attention is that we are often so busy trying to get people to figure out the form of our religion, that they miss seeing that the Kingdom of God is about our King - Jesus and about our relationship with Him. Everything else is the "form" that comes after, that comes out of our relationship with Him. It is theology, culture, doctrine. More than anything He wants to show us that He loves us as we are, and He will show us all those things and how they fit together in His time. As I walked home, I thought about the whole Hebrew Roots thing, and I think I just got my eyes off of the fact that it isn't the form that comes first, but my relationship with Him. He will faithfully guide the rest, as He always has. I thought of you, and wanted to share this with you, because I know you are struggling to figure out the form God wants you to follow, as I have been. I think the Lord would say to you, "Seek Me first". I hope that that helps.

Your friend and sister in Christ,
Carol
